About Tabasco

Herreshoff NY30 Tabasco #7
Featured in Woodenboat Magazine
Tabasco is one of the original 18, New York 30s built and launched in 1905. The fact that it is still afloat today is a tribute not only to the quality of her workmanship, but to the design and materials that went into her construction. Over the last decade, her current owners have undertaken further restoration to enhance her original features.
This fleet of the NY-30’s represents the first successful effort by the NYYC to establish an on-going proprietary one-design class. They were ordered by members of the New York Yacht Club and designed and built by the great Nathaniel Herreshoff & Company.
100 Years Ago | August 2022
Tabasco placed first in the NYYC racing event and again a decade later.
The fleet became quite significant in the history of the New York Yacht Club. Their impact on the yachting world has been quite extensive and the individual history of each yacht is remarkable. One hundred years ago (August 2022) Tabasco placed first in the NYYC racing event and again a decade later. Most recently, she participated in the Herreshoff Classic Yacht Regatta, in Bristol, RI along with 2 other vessels from her original fleet.
